Commencement 2020

UPDATE FROM 06/05/2020 * * * PLEASE NOTE * * *:

Greetings Students! As some of you may be aware, the UO was having a technical issue with the Marching Order portal. This problem has been fixed and the deadline has been extended!!! Please submit your information here, if you would like to be included in the 2020 commencement video that Student Life is compiling. More information can also be found here

Good luck and hang in there!

Greetings Class of 2020!

While we definitely find ourselves under some very trying circumstances, the UO is doing its best to create a ceremony for your class. While it may not be as intimate or interactive as we all expected, it will definitely be unforgettable, unique, and special. The amount of effort put forth, within such a short time period, by multiple entities, hopefully communicates, to you all, how much we value you, your efforts, and your achievements. As you may know, each department has the option of holding a ceremony in addition to the one the University traditionally hosts. This year is no different, in that regard.

For All Graduates/Degree Candidates

If you are interested in participating in the 2020 Commencement Ceremony and have NOT been contacted by Student Life about StageClip and the procedures necessary for your digital presentation, please go to this web page Register for 2020 Commencement or click the button at the bottom of this page*. Please remember that conferral of your degree is dependent upon the completion of your course credits.

Programs

Each of you will receive one hard copy version of the Indigenous, Race, and Ethnic Studies Commencement Program! If you wish additional copies, please email IRES by FRIDAY, MAY 22nd, and let us know how many copies you need. There is no charge for this. This is a hard deadline. Programs will be mailed after June 20th to your address as it is listed in DuckWeb.

Fall/Winter Graduates and Spring Degree Candidates

All IRES and NAS students who have received/applied for their undergraduate degrees for Fall '19, Winter '20 and Spring '20 will see their name in the Commencement Program. To those of you who have applied for Spring Term degrees, please remember that conferral of your degree depends upon the completion of your course credits.

Summer Degree Candidates:

If you are applying for your Summer Term degree, please email IRES with the following information by 3pm, THURSDAY, MAY 21st:

Your name + ID#

Your degree (BS, BA, etc.)

Your status (IRES major, minor; NAS minor)

          * * * * * Please Note: Your name might not appear in the Commencement Program if we do not have this information.

Senior Survey

As you prepare to make the transition from undergraduate to alumnus, we would appreciate your taking a few moments to complete our Senior Survey. What did you enjoy about your time in the Program? What are your plans post graduation? We'd love to know! Your comments will also help us to highlight you in our upcoming newsletter.

Finally on behalf of Indigenous, Race, and Ethnic Studies, I want you to know that we all understand how challenging these circumstances must be for you and your families. We share many of your struggles in that regard. But we sincerely hope that you'll be able to submit your StageClip entry, as this will become a part of the IRES Department's ceremony! Let's celebrate together--you've earned it! If you have questions, please feel free to email us and either Sydney Wensel (IRES Departmental Assistant) or me (Donella Alston Cleveland, Department Coordinator), will get back to you as soon as we can.

Stay well and be safe!
