  • Check your destination city for any travel restrictions.

  • Schedule a COVID test for 3-5 days after your return. UO MAP testing registration

  • Isolate until you have received a negative COVID test result. Keep distance and wear a mask around any roommates/housemates.

  • Do not travel if you have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and are in isolation, have experienced any COVID-19 symptoms in the past three days, or have had contact with a confirmed case, or are in quarantine.

New Minors

This Fall - Fall 2020 - the University of Oregon adds two new minors that draw extensively on IRES course offerings and the expertise of our faculty: Latinx Studies and Black Studies. In addition to the minor in Native American Studies, these minors can be taken in conjunction with the ES major or minor. Click the links in the banner above for more information!

Eric Garner…countless other Black lives murdered by police in anonymity but not forgotten.

Trayvon Martin to Ahmaud Arbery, all the Black lives murdered with impunity by civilians this decade as a movement called Black Lives Matter has overtaken the world.

All our energies are with those who are struggling to abolish forms of government, economy, and civic life that boast of their endless resources to kill while claiming austerity for food, shelter, and basic hospital supplies. As our colleague Michael Hames-García notes, UO is one site of this struggle. IRES urges the University immediately to disarm the UOPD, to shrink its size, to reduce its budget, and to create substantive and independent civilian oversight with investigatory and disciplinary authority. The UO should also begin public discussions about how and when to replace the UOPD with a Department of Public Safety.

In grief with those who mourn, outrage with those who resist, and solidarity with those who toil in ways big and small to create possibilities for a livable future.
