The Indigenous, Race, and Ethnic Studies Department’s 2022 Commencement Ceremony will be held at 1pm on Monday, June 13th, in the Robinson Theatre. We are also pleased to welcome alumni from the Class of '20 and the Class of '21! This will be an indoor, unticketed, public event for Ethnic Studies; Native American and Indigenous Studies; Latinx Studies, and Black Studies majors, minors and their guests. Light refreshments will be served at Tykeson Hall following the ceremony.
We are happy to honor requests for alter-able accommodations. Accessible seating/parking, for example, are readily available for requests made by May 31st, 2022. Requests made after this date may not be fulfilled.
Students who were awarded their degrees during AY20 and AY21, the Fall/Winter terms of AY22, students who applied for their degrees by April 24th, and Summer term degree applicants who have contacted IRES/applied for their degrees by April 24th, will receive an email or mailing with the following materials: a Commencement Info Flyer with more details about Commencement Day, the UO and IRES ceremonies, regalia, etc., and an IRES Ceremony Description. Name Cards may be picked up from the IRES main office (Alder 104) beginning May 31st. We will mail Name Cards upon request. It is imperative that students bring their Name Cards to the ceremony. This card lets us know that you are indeed present, and ensures that your name will be called. Your name will be called as it is printed on the card unless you make any changes to the card.
Please RSVP by Tuesday, May 31st. This is so the department can provide enough diploma covers and chairs for everyone, and address accessibility accommodations.
**** PLEASE NOTE: The RSVP deadline has now passed. The form is closed. If you are still intending to come and did not fill out the form by the deadline, please email the department at ethnic@uoregon.edu (please include your graduation year: AY 20, AY 21, or AY22, and your desired number of guests that you intend to bring with you) (preferred method) or call the mainline at 541-346-0900 to let us know.****
We ask that students and alumni attending the ceremony arrive between 11:45 - 12:30pm on the day of the IRES ceremony (Monday, June 13th), and check in with Donella Cleveland and Sydney Wensel at the check-in table. It is there that Name Cards will be handed in.
