Welcome! I am the new Director of Undergraduate Studies in IRES. This means that I am the go-to person for all questions and advising that pertain to requirements for the Ethnic Studies major and minor. You are still more than welcome to speak with any other Ethnic Studies faculty to discuss your courses and interests, but I will do the primary advising to make sure you are meeting the requirements for the major or minor.
A little about me: I was born and raised in the San Francisco bay area and worked in a variety of fields prior to becoming a professor (including independent media, women and youth advocacy, affordable housing, and prison law). I joined the UO faculty in 2014 and regularly teach courses in cultural studies; race, culture, and incarceration; social movements; and twentieth century thought.
I’m very excited to be in this new position and look forward to meeting with current and future majors and minors. Please feel free to drop by my office hours in Alder 204 (days and times posted each term) or email to make an appointment with me.
Have a great year and welcome!
